A layover at Changi can be a mini holiday. With 5.5 hours or more, you can join a free guided city tour without booking a hotel. With less, there’s a butterfly garden airside and the Jewel waterfall a walk from Terminal 1. Here’s how to choose by the time you’ve got.

01 · 5.5 to 24 hours: see the city
The Free Singapore Tour runs 2.5-hour guided bus tours from the transit area, daily from 10am to 9.30pm. Pick City Sights, Heritage and Culture, Singapore River and Marina Bay Sands, or Sentosa. Report to a booth 90 minutes before the tour.
02 · Airside
The Terminal 3 Butterfly Garden is in the transit area, so you don’t need to clear immigration.
03 · Landside at Jewel
Jewel has the Rain Vortex and Canopy Park.
Early check-in at Level 1 lets you drop bags and explore before your flight; paid baggage storage is also at Level 1. The eTRS GST refund kiosk is open 12pm to 8pm.
