A Christmas Story by World Christmas Market at Fort Canning: a free hilltop market with a 38-foot tree, late nights and room for dogs

Singapore’s World Christmas Market has a new home this year: the colonial-era METT Hotel on Fort Canning Hill. A Christmas Story runs every evening from 10 December 2026 to 3 January 2027, entry is free and there’s no registration. Unlike most mall markets, you can bring the dog.

Why go?

The setting is a white colonial building on a park hill, with a 38-foot real Christmas tree at the centre, which feels different from a mall atrium market.

It’s free to enter with no registration, so you can drop in for an hour after work.

Pets are welcome in designated areas if they’re leashed or in a carrier, making it one of the few big Christmas markets you can bring a dog to.

What to do

01 · The three zones

The organiser splits the market into Story Terrace, with gift stalls, workshops and The Long Table; the Piazza; and Merry Grounds, where most of the food is. Walk the whole loop once before buying, then settle at Merry Grounds to eat.

02 · Opening weekend and the late nights

A 42-piece orchestra plays on opening weekend, so 11 to 13 December is the one to aim for if you want the big moment. On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve the market opens from 4pm and stays open until 1am.

03 · Bringing a dog

Pets are allowed in designated areas only, on a leash or in a carrier. Evenings on the hill are cooler than street level, but Singapore’s December can still be humid and wet, so bring water and a mat for your dog and skip the busiest Saturday hours if your pet dislikes crowds.
