Dates: 30 Oct 2026 – 29 Aug 2027 · 10am to 7pm daily (Fridays to 9pm)

Exceptional/Everyday: New Acquisitions, New Perspectives brings together 159 objects the Peranakan Museum has acquired recently, from jewellery and beadwork to furniture and ordinary household things. It runs from 30 October 2026 to 29 August 2027. If you already know the permanent galleries, this is the reason to go back, and the opening weekend has a free community celebration.

Why go?

The show puts recently acquired pieces in front of the public for the first time, mixing the exceptional with the everyday, so even regulars will see new things.

There’s a family layer: an activity trail booklet for ages 7 and up, discovery corners and an activity space on Level 2.

The museum’s opening programme includes a free Peranakan Indian celebration, a side of Peranakan culture that gets less attention.

What to do

01 · Opening weekend: Community Voices

Community Voices: A Peranakan Indian Celebration runs on 31 October and 1 November 2026 from 11am to 6pm and is free. Exhibition tickets are discounted to S$5 for Singaporeans and PRs and S$12 for others that weekend. On 30 October, the talk ‘Inventing a Peranakan museum’ runs from 7pm to 8pm at the Asian Civilisations Museum’s Ngee Ann Auditorium.

02 · With kids

Pick up the activity trail booklet, designed for ages 7 and up, and use the discovery corners as you go. The Level 2 activity space is the natural break point for younger ones.

03 · Curator tours

Curator Naomi Wang leads evening tours at 7.30pm, starting on Wednesday 25 November 2026, with more dates on 24 February, 26 May and 28 July 2027. Tickets are S$25 through the museum’s Peatix listing, and groups are small, so book early.
