Dates: 21 Nov 2026 · 10am to 7pm
Grandparents’ Day at the National Museum is planned around the pair: most bookable sessions are priced per ‘intergenerational pair’, one senior plus a grandchild or adult aged five or older. Book one morning and one afternoon slot, fill the gaps with free activities, and you have a whole Saturday.

Why go?
It’s one of the few museum programmes built for seniors and grandchildren to do together, not side by side.
Several sessions are free or free with a refundable deposit, so a full day can cost very little.
The setting helps: the National Museum is Singapore’s oldest museum, and the day spreads across its theatre, salon, atrium and front lawn.
What to do
01 · Morning: dance or cook (10.30am to 12pm)
Choose one. Hands, Hearts & History is an intergenerational dance movement workshop in the Gallery Theatre (basement), free with a refundable S$20 deposit per pair. What’s in Grandma’s Kitchen? is a food-making workshop in The Salon on Level 1, at S$30 per pair. Both are for one senior plus an adult or a child aged 5 and above.
02 · Afternoon: human library or bingo
The Intergenerational Human Library (2.30pm to 4.30pm, The Salon) pairs traditional crafts with modern passions, at S$10 per person and recommended for ages 13 and up. Intergenerational Bingo (3pm to 4pm, Gallery Theatre) is free with a refundable S$10 deposit per group of two to four, which must include a senior plus an adult or a child aged 5 and above.
03 · Free drop-ins all day
Marketplace booths fill the Glass Atrium on Level 2 from 10am to 4pm (some close at 3pm). Our Voices, Our Memories, an art showcase with a drop-in craft activity, is on The Concourse, Level 1, from 10am to 4pm. A Whale of a Tale playground is on the front lawn from 10am to 7pm, and the museum café is serving a grandparents’ special inspired by familiar flavours.
