The Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay under a cloudy daytime sky

Mercedes-Benz Studio Singapore at Gardens by the Bay: a free car-meets-café hangout, even if you’re not buying

A car brand’s showroom isn’t usually a day-out pick. Mercedes-Benz Studio Singapore is different: it’s a free, walk-in space at Gardens by the Bay with a digital art installation, a café, a courtyard for community events and, yes, a few new cars. It’s here for about a year, so make it a pit stop on your next Gardens visit.

Why go?

It costs nothing and needs no appointment. You can walk in, look around and leave without a sales pitch being the point.

It’s the brand’s first Studio in Southeast Asia, joining Studios in cities like Tokyo, Seoul, Copenhagen and Los Angeles. Each one is temporary and shaped by its host city.

It fits neatly into a Gardens by the Bay visit, especially on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, when it stays open until 10pm.

What to do

01 · See the art in Canvas

Canvas is a rotating space where cars meet art and design through work by local and regional artists. It opened with Liquid Studios Singapore, a commissioned digital artwork by Singapore-based Metamo Industries. Check what’s on now, as the installations change.

02 · Get close to the electric GLC

The Studio launched with the Singapore debut of the GLC 400 4MATIC electric, the battery version of the brand’s best-selling SUV. Its new illuminated grille appeared on a Mercedes-Benz model for the first time here.

03 · Grab a drink at Commune, then check the Courtyard

Commune is the café and social hub, with limited-edition merchandise and rotating food and drink residencies; the opening one was Ferm, a probiotic-drinks brand. The Courtyard hosts community weekends, with run clubs, workshops and wellness sessions. Some of these need advance registration or a separate ticket.
