City lights make Singapore a hard place to stargaze on your own, so the easiest way in is a guided night. Science Centre Singapore’s Observatory opens every Friday with telescopes and a planetarium show, runs a smaller hands-on session four times a year, and holds daytime Sun-watching sessions. Here’s what each involves.

Why go?
Proper telescopes and guides make the most of a hazy city sky.
Being near the Equator means you can see both northern and southern stars.
What to do
01 · Fridays at the Observatory
Friday stargazing: a planetarium show at 7.30pm, then telescopes until 10pm. Ages 5 and up, 150 places.
