Newton Food Centre opened in 1971 as Singapore’s first hawker centre built without a wet market, with hawker stalls in a garden setting. It was rebuilt from 2005 with stalls around a central courtyard. Two stalls are listed in the MICHELIN Guide: Alliance Seafood and Hup Kee Fried Oyster Omelette.

About 50 years old, it started as a street stall. Wed to Sat 5.30pm to midnight; closed Sun to Tue.
03 · A bit of history
It was first called Newton Circus Hawker Centre, part of the Garden City vision. In 1982 it was Singapore’s second most popular eating place, with 7,309 patrons a day at its peak.
